Finally finished the book jackets! Both of them have come a long way since the beginning, but I am very pleased with the results. Both jackets have silhouettes on the covers and a horizon line going around the whole book, including the flaps, to pull them together and make them relate to each other.

So I’m working on the book jackets, and I’m looking through the books I have at home. Of course now I notice how the book jackets are designed and what I like/don’t like about them. Well I came across The Lost World by Michael Crichton. It has one of the coolest jackets I’ve ever seen! It was designed by Chip Kidd, an extremely talented designer, his work is very cool. This book jacket is so simple; black and red are the only colors used, plus the white of the paper. The dinosaur skeleton isn’t so perfectly placed on the front cover. It overlaps to the spine and continues the the back cover. What is so interesting about it is that it is sideways. Normally you’d think to make the skeleton go vertically, but the way this jacket is designed the skeleton is in the perfect spot on both the front and back covers. So awesome.
